Planning a wedding can be challenging, especially for that bride and groom who have never planned a wedding before. It is also possible that both the bride and groom have separate versions of their own wedding day… One wedding planning DJ tip that I give my clients is to start by creating a mission statement or affirmation. There is an overwhelming amount of information and creative ideas that can very easily pull you off track and out of your budget. When that happens, you can refer back to your mission statement to see if that next item on your list is in-line with the wedding that what you want to create. This will give you a clear sense of purpose. You will be amazed at how much easier your wedding plans, and budget, will come together once you have a clear picture of what your wedding day is suppose to look like. You can do this by finishing this statement, “The type of wedding day that I want to create is…” Now what is your version? Is it elegant, traditional, nontraditional, fun, party, relaxed…? The list goes on and on. Not only does this apply to the entertainment, but, this can apply to every area of your wedding plans.
Next, begin your plans with the end in mind. For example: If the type of wedding day you want to create is a relaxed social environment, this tells me that the entertainment takes a back seat to socializing and conversation. We might also create a relaxed timeline by scheduling more time for conversation and less for dancing. Remember, this is based on the type of wedding day that you want to create.
